Tonehammer is proud to present the mighty Kalimba. The Kalimba (Thumb
Piano) is a tuned percussion instrument and a variant of the African
Mbira. It\u2019s essentially a hollow wooden box with metal keys attached
to it. The instrument is plucked with thumbs and the wooden box helps
increase the resonance of the metal keys. However Tonehammer took it
to the next level. We recorded the Kalimba in four different locations
for ultimate user freedom. The user can choose between dry
(close-mic\u2019d in a small, dead room), wet (small hall), wetter (big
hall / close mics) and wettest (big hall – far mics).
